DigiBC Names Judges for NEXTBC 2: A Night Showcasing BC’s Innovation
DigiBC unveiled three of the four judges participating in the second annual NEXTBC Showcase & Awards Gala on Thursday, May 21, 2015.
Twenty-five of BC’s most innovative companies are set to showcase their technology and creativity at NEXTBC 2.
The event will be bigger this year with more time to network and visit the company booths and more awards given out in Science World’s Omnimax Theatre.
And now, introducing this year’s judges:
Gillian Shaw — Reporter, The Vancouver Sun & Columnist “Digital Life”One of Vancouver’s best-known vocalists for the city’s start-up and tech scenes, Gillian has written extensively about digital companies and their emerging trends. Her knowledge base and journalistic approach to evaluating a company’s leadership qualities will help her immensely in helping to select the NEXTBC winners circle.
Dr. Michel Laberge — Founder & Chief Scientist, General FusionAs the representative for his company on last year’s NEXTBC interactive panel, Michel’s ability to communicate General Fusion’s approach to changing the world helped bring home the night’s top prize. This year, Dr. Laberge is serving as one of our judges, applying his intellect and deductive reasoning to determine which company he passes the torch on to.
Catherine Warren — Founder & President of FanTrust Entertainment Strategies
Throughout her two decade career in interactive media, Catherine has worked with some of the world’s leading entertainment and tech companies including Microsoft, Orange Telecom, Nokia, the CBC, CTV, Fox and many more. She is a board member of the Bell Fund and the United Nations’ World Summit Awards for digital and mobile media.
The fourth judge will be announced at the event on May 21.
