eOne and IDW Entertainment Team to Develop Comic-Book Miniseries for TV

IDW Entertainment and Entertainment One Television have teamed to develop Secret Service drama Cobb as a TV series — a timely project given the recent security lapses that resulted in the resignation of Director Julia Pierson. Based on Beau’s IDW comic-book miniseries Cobb: Off The Leash, the conspiracy thriller follows Frank Cobb, a top-ranking Secret Service agent whose life gets turned upside down when he is removed from active duty after stumbling onto a deadly conspiracy at the highest global level. He must win back his reputation and save the newly elected President of the United States. Thania St. John (Covert Affairs) is writing the script and serves as showrunner on the project, which stems from IDW and eOne’s first-look co-production deal.
“There is no margin for error when guarding the President of the United States, but the men and women of the Secret Service are only human, as we’ve learned this week,” said St. John. “This show explores how one agent’s heroism — or mistake — can affect global security and how a conspiracy at unthinkable levels can exist, even in an era of total surveillance and transparency.”
IDW Entertainment and eOne will jointly represent the U.S. network sales, and eOne will handle international distribution.
