Canal Plus Group Set to Launch Over 20 YouTube Channels

French TV giant Canal Plus Group is set to launch over 20 YouTube channels dedicated to its pay and free-to-air nets, including Canal Plus, D8 and i>Tele.

Kicking off in December, YouTube users will gain access to Canal Plus’ flagship programs, including primetime talkshow Le Grand Journal. The content will be editorialized, with topical channels focusing on either cinema, series, music or urban culture.

Christophe Muller, director of YouTube partnerships for the Southern Europe, Africa and Middle East region, said this partnership with Canal Plus Group “will enable lovers of its flagship programs to find their broadcasts and favorite productions directly via the Canal Plus channels on YouTube,” whose community counts over one billion users. Muller added the roll out of the paybox’ nets on YouTube will “contribute to extending the reach of French audiovisual culture.”

Canal Plus Group is also bowing Canalfactory, a YouTube-based platform promoting emerging or established artists and talent — from Martin and Jordi, the stars of web series Tetes de Cannes, to El Diablo, the author of “Les Lascars.” Canalfactory will play short formats and original productions developed specifically for the web.

“YouTube is a unique space not only for today’s talent to find expression and be creative, but also for tomorrow’s talent, which we want to support and bring to a wider audience in a dedicated area, Canalfactory,” said Fabienne Fourquet, Canal Plus group’s director of new content.
