Peppa Pig apps have hit a milestone by surpassing 1 million downloads in the UK. This figure accounts for total app downloads on iOS, Nokia and Android from licensee P2 Games.

Since debuting on the App Store in 2011, the presence of Peppa Pig in the Top Ten paid kids games chart has been consistent and P2 Games is preparing to launch its sixth app for the franchise, Peppa Pig Holiday, which is set for release this month ahead of the Easter holidays.

The brand is also reporting outstanding sales in the publishing category. Sales of Redan Publishing’s Fun to Learn Peppa Pig magazine hit an all time high this month with 113,000 copies sold in just two weeks. Total sales reached 272,000 units in February 2013, which accounts for £663,000 in retail sales and the title holds firm as the best-selling pre-school magazine in the UK.

Similarly, Ladybird reports a 6% growth in sales of Peppa Pig books in 2012 compared to 2011 (source: Bookscan), which bucks the decline in sales across the overall sector. Based on these figures Peppa leads the way in the pre-schooldivision with book sales for the brand in 2012 worth more than the combined totals of the following three pre-school properties. Total books sales for Peppa in the UK now stand at 5.4 million copies.

Furthermore, eOne can reveal that total sales of DVDs have now exceeded 7.5 million units. Peppa was the No. 1 pre-school franchise on DVD in 2012 for thefifth year running with DVD sales almost double that of the No. 2 pre-schoolbrand.

Hannah Mungo, Head of UK Licensing at Entertainment One comments, ‘Peppa’s success in the mobile gaming market has been tremendous and the strong sales across publishing and DVD prove that it remains a firm favourite for pre-schoolers. With 74 licensees now on board in the UK, the brand continues to attract new partners to the programme and we’re fully committedto its long term growth in the UK.’

This Easter eOne is collaborating with master toy partner Character Options on a UK Twitter party that will generate online buzz for the licensee’s new Peppa Pig Theme Park toy collection. 18 of the most influential mummy bloggers in the UK will tweet at regular intervals about the brand and products in the toy range which will be hosted live from parenting website UKMums.tv with a second party hub on-site at the theme park attraction Peppa Pig World in Hampshire.

eOne is now gearing up for the brand’s 10th anniversary celebrations in 2014 and planning is underway on initiatives that will encompass product, packaging, marketing, digital, broadcast and retail.
